Turkey broke a record in the dried fruit export

Chairman of the Southeast Anatolian Dried Fruits and Products Exporters’ Association, Mehmet Cikmaz Akdeniz, announced that the export record of the Southeast Anatolian dried fruit exporters in the seven months of 2021 was broken.

In the dried fruit sector, which is among the sectors that increased its exports the most during the pandemic process, exports continued with record increases every day, while in the first half of 2021, $135 million 772 thousand of dried fruit were exported to 92 countries from the Southeastern Anatolia Region.

Making an evaluation after the board meeting held at the GAIB Service Building, Mehmet Cikmaz, President of the Southeastern Anatolian Dried Fruits and Products Exporters’ Association, stated that the efforts for the export of various fruits grown in the fertile lands of Anatolia continue with great success throughout the world. He stated that in the seven-month period of 2021, $147 million 736 thousand of dried fruits and products were exported from the region to 92 countries with an increase of 43% compared to the same period of the previous year. In his evaluation, President Cikmaz stated that dried fruits and products are an important source of nutrients in the fight against Covid-19, that people turn to healthy snacks to increase body resistance and fight against the virus, and that the first thing that comes to mind when it comes to healthy snacks is Pistachio, Dried Apricot and Dried Fig. “The seven-month slice of 2021 has been a productive year for our exporters in the region. In the period of July 2021, dried fruit exports of $147 million 136 thousand were realized from our region with an increase of 43% compared to the same month of the previous year. Pistachio is the most exported product in our region, with a total of $63 million 368 thousand with an increase of 116.8% compared to the same period of the previous year. Dried apricots took the second place with $50 million 362 thousand in the products exported the most from our region, while other dried fruits took the third place with $15 million 267 thousand. Again in this process, $9 million of dried figs, $2 million 496 thousand of various dried fruits and cookies, $2 million 321 thousand of other roasted fruits, $1 million 862 thousand of roasted chickpeas, $1 million 808 thousand of apricot and apricot kernels, $1 million 77 thousand of pine nuts and $169 thousand of seedless raisins were exported from our region, and $147 million 736 thousand of foreign currency inflow was made to our country in the first seven months of the year.

Evaluating the exports of dried fruits and products made from our region on the basis of country groups, the President of the Southeastern Anatolian Dried Fruits and Products Exporters’ Association, Mehmet Cikmaz, said that in the seven-month period of 2021, the most products were exported to European Union countries with $70 million 832 thousand. He stated that the American countries took the second place with $21 million 728 thousand, and the third place in dried fruit exports belonged to the Middle East countries with $17 million 423 thousand. He added that in country-based exports, the highest amount of dried fruit was made to Germany with $28 million 724 thousand, followed by $Italy with 20 million, and the United States with $15 million 575 thousand. Expressing that dried fruit was exported to a total of 92 countries from the Southeast in the first seven months of 2021, President Mehmet Cikmaz congratulated the exporters of dried fruit and stated that they focused on the last five months of 2021.

Mehmet Cikmaz, President of the Southeast Anatolian Dried Fruits and Products Exporters’ Association, expressed his condolences to the citizens who lost their lives as a result of the floods in the Black Sea Region after the forest fires in the Aegean Region and said, “Condolences to our nation. We will do our part by sticking together with our nation to heal the wounds of the disasters.”
