European stock markets close Monday mostly flat

STOXX Europe 600 slightly rises by 0.07%, France’s CAC 40 up 0.08%

Major indices on European stock exchanges closed on Monday mostly flat, while London markets were on a bank holiday.

The STOXX Europe 600, which includes around 90% of the market capitalization of the European market in 17 countries, was slightly up 0.34 points, or 0.07%, to 472.68 points.

Economic sentiment eased in both the EU and eurozone in August from an all-time high in July, the European Commission revealed on Monday.

Germany’s DAX 30 rose 35.56 points, or 0.22%, to 15,887,while the France’s CAC 40 was marginally up 5.38 points, or 0.08%, to 6,687.

Italy’s FTSE MIB increased 17.64 points, or 0.07%, to 26,024 while Spain’s IBEX 35 lost 54.30 points, or 0.61%, to 8,867.

There was no transaction on London’s FTSE 100 index due to the public holiday.
