Cukurova Textile and Apparel Fair, which was held for the second time in Adana and will be open to visitors until February 5, was opened with the participation of a commercial procurement committee of 200 people from 30 countries. Representatives of companies from the pajamas, underwear, jeans, textile machinery and fabric sectors attended the fair.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Governor Suleyman Elban said, “Adana is a city that first brought this industry to Turkey with its Cukurova cotton, yarn, fabric and apparel and played an important role in Turkey’s industrialization with this industry. I would like to say that it is our expectation that the textile and apparel fair will be held and developed in this city and that Adana’s name will be mentioned with this fair in the coming period, and I have no doubt that it will be so.”
Speaking at the ceremony, Adana Chamber of Industry Chairman Zeki Kivanc said, “This sector addresses many areas of the economy, from cotton production to fiber, from yarn to fabric and clothing. It creates huge employment, creates huge trade. This sector, in which 75 million people work in the world, is the bread and butter of our country for approximately 1 million 200 thousand employees.”
