Air cargo load increased by 1.6% in the first 6 months of the year

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu stated that air cargo reached 1 million 846 thousand 483 tons in the first 6 months of this year, with an increase of 1.6% compared to the same period of the previous year.

In his written statement, Minister Uraloglu stated that air transportation vehicles are now being preferred more frequently in freight transportation.

Uraloglu stated that today the airway accelerates freight transportation and this situation brings many advantages for the trade sector, and shared the following information:

“In the first 6 months of 2022, freight traffic reached a total of 1 million 818 thousand 169 tons on domestic and international lines. At the end of June 2023, a total of 1 million 846 thousand 483 tons on domestic and international lines.

Thus, the first 6-month data of 2023 showed an increase of 1.6% compared to the same month of the previous year. During the pandemic period, which affected the world, there were significant decreases in aircraft and cargo transportation. In the coming period, we aim to increase the amount of cargo by 6%.”

Emphasizing the effect of speed and safety on the increase in air cargo traffic, Minister Uraloglu pointed out the importance of air freight transportation in terms of transporting sensitive cargo without damage and being a safe and fast method in international trade.

Pointing out that customs procedures are also faster and easier, Uraloglu said, “Our airports will continue to make life easier for our people.”
