Borsa Istanbul: New record in BIST 100 Index

The BIST 100 index in Borsa Istanbul broke the record for the highest level it had seen in the first half of the day, to 2,554.87 points.

BIST 100 index, which hit a record level with 2,554.87 points in the first half of the day, became 2,553.06 points with a value increase of 1.07% and 27.13 points compared to the previous close as of 13.00. Total transaction volume stood at ₺23.2 billion.

In the first half, the banking index rose 1.32% and the holding index rose 0.75%. Among the sector indices, the highest gain was construction with 2.55%, and the most declining was security investment partnership with 0.60%.

The company balance sheets announced in the USA, the continuation of shutdown measures within the scope of the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19) epidemic in China, the increase in tension in the Russia-Ukraine war, and the guidance of the central banks regarding the policy steps to be taken in the face of rising inflation, caused the confusion in the global stock markets to continue.

Analysts stated that the statements of the US Federal Reserve (Fed) Chairman Jerome Powell and the European Central Bank President (ECB) Christine Lagarde may be decisive on the direction of the markets.

Analysts stated that the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) Monetary Policy Committee meeting summary will be followed in the afternoon and the weekly unemployment benefits applications in the USA will be followed abroad. Analysts stated that if the BIST 100 index is technically stable above the level of 2.550, the level of 2.590 will come to the fore, and the levels of 2.490 and 2.440 will be followed as support in possible decreases.
