Sabiha Gokcen becomes the center of economical flights

With the headquarters and management center of Turkish Airlines’ sub-brand AJet being determined as Sabiha Gokcen, the airport in question will host Turkiye’s two giant low-cost carriers.

The first aircraft of AJet Air Transportation Joint Stock Company, established as a subsidiary of Turkish Airlines, was introduced at a meeting held at Sabiha Gokcen Airport.

The aircraft painted in the corporate colors of AJet, which said goodbye to the color red in its new logo and used blue and black colors, was shown for the first time.

In order to continue its activities as a low-cost airline at global standards and to strengthen its competitive position in the market, AJet has determined its headquarters as Sabiha Gokcen, and the airport in question will host Turkiye’s 2 giant low-cost carriers.

It will positively affect passenger traffic

Following the establishment of the company, AJet received flight operation authorization and requested slots for different airports from the General Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGCA), which particularly increases the importance of Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport. According to Airport Management and Aviation Technologies (HEAS) data, Sabiha Gokcen, which hosted a total of 31 million passengers in the first 10 months of this year, exceeded the number of passengers carried in the previous year as of October.

AJet aircraft, which are expected to take to the skies in the first quarter of 2024, are expected to have a positive impact on passenger traffic at Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen, the “city airport”.

Sabiha Gokcen serves a total of 162 destinations, including 122 international and 40 domestic routes, in 53 countries.
