Minister Bolat: 60% of our exports in 2022 were transported by sea

Minister of Commerce Omer Bolat stated that 60% of Turkiye’s $254 billion exports last year were made by sea.

In his post on the X social media platform, Bolat stated that he attended the December council meeting of the Istanbul and Marmara, Aegean, Mediterranean and Black Sea Regions (IMEAK) Chamber of Shipping.

Emphasizing that they came together with members of the maritime sector of the country surrounded by seas on three sides, Bolat said, “When we look at Turkiye’s foreign trade transportation, we see that approximately 60% of our $254 billion exports will be transported by sea in 2022, and we are aware of how important our maritime sector is.”

Bolat stated that IMEAK Chamber of Shipping has approximately 11 thousand members and continues its work with the vision of “Sailor Nation, Sailor Country” and thanked Chamber President Tamer Kiran and the council members for their work.
