A new target in Turkey-Israel economic relations has been set

Israel’s Ankara Embassy Charge d’Affaires Irit Lillian stated that it is very important for both countries that Turkey and Israel develop cooperation in areas that will prevent problems such as climate change or energy crisis.

Israel’s Ankara Embassy Charge d’Affaires Irit Lillian stated that Turkey and Israel had a trade volume of $8 billion last year and stated that areas such as sustainability, green technologies, mobility and innovation promise strong potential to further the economic relations of the two countries.

Lillian said that about 10 companies from Turkey participated in the EcoMotion 2022 conference and fair held in Tel Aviv this week.

Noting that these are big companies operating in the automotive and transportation sectors, Lillian said, “Now the whole world is changing and is turning its face in a different direction. EcoMotion is a platform where Turkish, Israeli and many international companies can come together and promote their own products and sustainable solutions. The presence of the Turkish delegation at EcoMotion is also very important.”

Lillian continued her speech by stating that a delegation went to Israel in March and a delegation from Israel would come to Turkey:

“The trade volume of Turkey and Israel reached $8 billion last year. Israel is Turkey’s 9th largest export destination. When we look at the content of the current trade volume, we can say that it is a more traditional structure consisting of textiles, food and other fields. The presence of a Turkish delegation at EcoMotion shows that the direction in the economic relations of the two countries has begun to change. This direction is shifting to more sophisticated, high-tech areas. I think this is a very good sign. I think it is very important for the two sides to develop cooperation in areas that will prevent problems such as climate change or energy crisis.”

DRON TECHNOLOGIES WILL ALSO BE INCLUDED AT ECOMOTION

Expressing that Turkey is a major industrial center in mobility products, Lillian said, “Mobility is not only about vehicles, but many issues such as more efficient use of public transportation, reducing traffic, smart cities, and energy saving fall into this field. Turkey is an important manufacturer not only in the automotive industry, but also in drone technologies. EcoMotion will have a section about it. When we say mobility, we are talking about not only the movement of people or vehicles, but also the mobility of products, and in this sense, drone technologies will have a much greater importance in our daily lives in the future. We should not look at this issue only from a military point of view.”

In this context, Lillian emphasized that areas such as sustainable solutions, clean technologies, mobility and innovation promise strong potential to further the economic relations of the two countries.

Recalling the visit of Israeli President Isaac Herzog to Turkey in March, Lillian said, “As long as the trend in bilateral relations is positive and the economy and industry sectors progress in cooperation, the trade volume of the two countries will increase.”
