Turkish Tourism Thrives: German Summer Reservations Soar Over 40%

Fiebig, President of the Association of German Travel Agencies, stated that the increase in Germans’ Turkiye reservations for this summer holiday has exceeded 40% and said, “When it comes to holiday packages, Turkiye is even ahead of Spain.”

Norbert Fiebig, President of the Association of German Travel Agencies (DRV), answered the questions of the AA correspondent at the International Tourism Stock Exchange (ITB) Fair held in Berlin, the capital of Germany.

Stating that the tourism sector is in a good “mood” with people wanting to travel, Fiebig said that this is reflected in the booking figures for summer holidays.

Fiebig noted that there was a 30% increase in reservations in Germany for the next summer season and that they expect this increase to continue.

“Turkiye is number one among destinations offering all-inclusive products”

Referring to Turkiye’s position in Germans’ travel preferences, Norbert Fiebig said, “When we look at where Germans travel, what we see is that Turkiye is in a very good situation, with an increase of more than 40% in bookings. When it comes to holiday packages, Turkiye is even ahead of Spain. Greece is in third place and Egypt is in fourth place.”

Fiebig noted that reservations for Turkiye were particularly good this year and that he expected this to continue throughout the year. “This is because Turkiye has a very good price/performance ratio and when it comes to all-inclusive products that are very popular in Germany, Turkiye is number one among these destinations.”

Stating that Turkiye’s infrastructure is very nice and new, Fiebig also explained that the country should focus on cultural tourism.

Fiebig said, “Turkiye has a lot to offer in terms of culture. We need to attract German potential customers to this. Therefore, there are many areas where we can improve and maneuver by looking for Turkiye’s success as a favorite holiday destination of Germans on the cultural side.”

“Turkiye is in a better situation than its other competitors”

Fiebig, President of the Association of German Travel Agencies, stated that they see Turkiye as the most successful destination in the tourism market and said, “Turkiye should focus on attracting more people with its cultural and sports attraction as well as its very popular sun and beach product.”

Emphasizing that Turkiye is also very attractive in terms of health tourism, Fiebig said, “In general, we see that Turkiye has been doing very well in tourism for the last few years. Turkiye is in a better situation than its other competitors.”

Fiebig stated that global tourism continues to recover after the Covid-19 epidemic and concluded his words as follows:

“I expect more moderate price increases as inflation falls. Germans are eager to travel. They do so when they have the opportunity, but we should not underestimate the price sensitivity of customers. People do not have endless money in their pockets and they look at prices very carefully. The question ‘Where can I get the best value for money’ will continue, and this means that destinations with a very good price/benefit ratio will continue to be very good in the future.”
