Automotive industry has been the annual leader of Turkish export for 14 years till 2020; the industry exported automotive parts to 190 countries in the first half of 2020. There is 26 percent decrease in export comparing the first halves of 2019 and 2020 due to pandemic.
According to the Uludag Automotive Industry Exporters’ Union (OIB), automotive sub-industry is a flanker of automotive industry and it made an export worth $3 billion 988 million in the first half of 2020.
Automotive parts’ export covers 37 percent of the whole sector’s export. Automotive parts were exported to Germany the most and this export was valued at $866 million 770 thousand in the first half of 2020.
The firms operating as automotive parts supply industry exported to Romania as the second most exported to country with a value of $229 million 619 thousand in the first half of 2020. France took place as the third country that automotive industry exported the most with a value of $219 million 843 thousand.
Sector representatives also exported to other globally important markets such as; Italy with an export value of $213 million 136 thousand, to USA with a value of $209 million 736 thousand and UK with a value of $203 million 274 thousand; in addition to these exports, they also exported to Spain, Russia, Slovenia, Poland, Belgium that worth over a hundred million in the first half of the 2020.
46% increase in Automotive parts exports to Brazil export
Automotive sub-industrialists made exports to Brazil valued at $43 million 280 thousand in the first half of 2019; seeing increase of 46 percent and became $63 million 150 thousand in the first half of 2020.
The export value that is made to Azerbaijan is increased by 78 percent and became $33 million 820 thousand compared to first half of 2019.
The export value that is made to the United Arab Emirates is increased by 20.76 percent and became $27 million 924 thousand compared to the first half of 2019.
