“Automotive and textile base” Bursa’s 8-month exports approached $10 billion

In the January-August period, $9.6 billion of products were exported to 187 countries, free zones and autonomous regions from Bursa, where important production is carried out in many fields, especially in automotive, ready-made clothing and textiles.

According to the information compiled from the data of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), the exports of industrialists from Bursa in the January-August period increased by 28% compared to the same months of 2020, reaching $9 billion 622 million 446 thousand from $7 billion 520 million 150 thousand.

Ranking third after Istanbul and Kocaeli in Turkey’s general exports, Bursa’s highest export volume on a sectoral basis was realized by the automotive industry.

Bursa automotive industry, which includes companies such as OYAK Renault, TOFAS, Bosch and Karsan, achieved an export of $4 billion 431 million 407 thousand in January-August, with an increase of 16.6% compared to the same period of the previous year.

Exports of the ready-made clothing and apparel industry, which ranks second in Bursa’s foreign sales, increased by 32% in this period to $1 billion 108 million 368 thousand, while the export of the third rank textile and raw materials sector increased by 38.1% to $756 million 692 thousand.

35% INCREASE IN EXPORT TO GERMANY, 24% TO FRANCE, 39% TO ITALY

In the 8-month period on a country basis, the most foreign sales from Bursa were made to Germany. Exports to this country increased by 35% compared to the same period of the previous year and reached $1 billion 427 million 297 thousand.

Exports to France, which ranks second, increased by 24%. Bursa’s 8-month export sales to France were recorded as $1 billion 18 million 888 thousand.

Exports to Italy, which ranks third in the list, increased by 39% and amounted to $764 million 883 thousand.

Spain ranked 4th with a 38% increase and $748 million 99 thousand, while the USA ranked 5th with a 40% increase and $496 million 35 thousand.

SERIOUS RISES IN EXPORTS TO HONDURAS, SIERRA LEONE AND MOZAMBIC

In the same period, when the countries to which millions of dollars and more were exported from Bursa are taken into account, it was observed that there were serious increases to some countries.

In the same period of this year, $1 million 489 thousand of products were sold to Honduras, where $33 thousand of exports were made in the January-August period of last year.

Exports from African countries to Sierra Leone increased by 31 times to $2 million 245 thousand, and to Mozambique increased by 12 times to $3 million 366 thousand.
