A new marketplace for mothers, children and babies: Pempati

For the first time, a specific marketplace for mothers and children is launched: Pempati. It is possible to have every product sought for mothers and children on this site. The products offered for sale in Pempati, where it is planned to have all 15 thousand enterprises in the sector within three years, will be 20% more affordable than the market.

For the first time, a marketplace planned a site by putting itself in the shoes of mothers, expectant mothers and children. The marketplace, named Pempati, was established by the gathering of five investors from Anatolia. Ozkan Salman, Chairman of the Board of Metastore, which was established with a capital of ₺100 million for this formation, spoke at the press conference held at Sahngri La Hotel.

Stating that they established this marketplace first in Turkiye and then in the world, Salman said, “We set out with quality service and much more affordable price options. We established Pempati so that all mother, child and baby products can be accessed from a single marketplace without distraction. We claim that when a mother or a parent enters this site, they will definitely find the product they need. From baby food to pacifier; Approximately 250 thousand products, from baby strollers to maternity clothes, from diapers to shampoo, will be available from Pempati. There is no other marketplace that is so focused only on the mother, child and baby category. At the same time, by narrowing the projection, we want to specialize in one area and increase the quality service we provide. We also claim that; Pempati will sell the same product at least 20% more affordable than other marketplaces. In other words, it will not be possible to find products cheaper than Pempati.”

Daily turnover target is ₺12 million

Stating that only mother, child and baby products will be sold in Pempati, Salman said, “No other products will be sold in Pempati. Because we are talking about a very large market already. An average of 1.1 million babies are born each year. The population between the ages of 0-14 is 19 million people. The number of female customers shopping at the marketplaces is more than 20 million. We’re actually entering a niche area and we think there’s a lot of potential here. The market size of the mother, baby and child category is approximately ₺100 billion. As Pempati, our goal is to have the total turnover of our stores reach ₺12 million per day by the end of the first year. We aim to reach three-digit million liras by the end of the third year, and billion liras, even billions of dollars, by the end of the fifth year.”

Stating that they have started negotiations with the companies that will take place in Pempati, Salman said, “We have agreed with 100 companies at the moment. We aim to have three thousand companies in Pempati by the end of the first year. At the end of the third year, the number of companies in Pempati will reach 15 thousand. At the end of the fifth year, we aim to have a store in Pempati for all companies in this sector, which we estimate to be 35 thousand.”

It will build the supply chain

Stating that they will be able to sell goods cheaper than other marketplaces by getting a lower commission than the businesses that open stores in Pempati, Salman said, “While we will provide easier, safer and faster shopping opportunities for customers, we will also receive low commissions from stores. At the same time, we will create a large supply chain. We plan to offer stores the opportunity to export at the end of the second year. In this way, on the one hand, we will achieve high customer satisfaction and on the other hand, we will open our stores abroad”. Salman said, “We came from the heart of Anatolia, so to speak. We are planning to transfer the culture of Akhism, which we have acquired from our traditions, to the digital environment. According to the Ahi culture, we need to share what we earn and move the stores we travel together to a better position. We will work for that too. For this purpose, we plan to create a product supply chain for our stores. In this way, we will be able to join forces and supply products for our stores from manufacturers at a more affordable price.”

Investments will continue without slowing down

Stating that he started operating by investing ₺10 million for the Pempati project in the first place, and that this investment amount will increase gradually in the future, Salman said, “Our investments will continue in terms of both technology and promotion. Our goal is to make every mother visit Pempati at least once. We are sure that after visiting Pempati, he will not need to go to another marketplace platform. For this reason, our investments will continue without slowing down until we reach all mothers.”

Will provide solutions for cargo

Salman said, “We have watched the industry from outside and inside, and we have seen that there are various chronic problems on the cargo and store customer side. For example, there were 470,000 complaints in the e-commerce sector in 2022. Many of these are similar problems. We have some solution plans for these chronic problems. We are in talks with several cargo companies that we can implement these plans with. With the solution we will find, we plan to increase the satisfaction of both our stores and our customers.”
