Asian stock markets close mostly in red

4 of 6 indices post declines as Hang Seng, Singapore end day up

Major Asian stock markets closed the first transaction day of the week with mixed figures, mostly in the negative territory.

The Asia Dow, which includes blue-chip companies in the region, lost 4.82 points, or 0.15%, to reach 3,163.15 at 0922GMT.

Tokyo’s Nikkei 225 stock exchange dropped 191.78 points, or 0.74%, to 25,771.22 points.

The Hang Seng, the benchmark for blue-chip stocks trading on the Hong Kong stock exchange,was up 88.91 points, or 0.42%, to 21,163.91.

China’s Shanghai Stock Exchange dropped 1.36 points, or 0.04%, to close at 3,315.43 points.

The Indian Sensex benchmark fell 30.26 points, or 0.06%, to end the day at 51,330.16.

The Singapore index gained 1.11 points, or 0.04%, to finish at 3,099.20 points.
