Canakkale Bosphorus Bridge foundation height reaches 250 meters, construction continues

The feet of the 1915 Canakkale Bridge, whose foundation was laid by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on March 18, 2017 and which is under construction between Sekerkaya and Gelibolu’s Sutluce district of Canakkale, continues to rise day by day. With the latest works done, this time 26th blocks were placed in the sea on both sides of the historical bridge and the foot length of the bridge reached 250 meters. The bridge, which will reach up to 318 meters is 68 meters left to complete.

The bridge representing the March 18 Çanakkale Naval Victory will consist of 32 blocks. At the far end of the towers, there will be monuments to remember the unforgettable heros of the Canakkale Wars. The middle span of the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge, which represents the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic, is planned to be 2023 meters.

After opening the suspension bridge it will be longest inter-tower span in the world. the distance between the two sides will decrease to 6 minutes. It is anticipated that the bridge will also provide significant benefits to the region and that investor demand will increase in Canakkale area.

1 suspension bridge, 2 connecting viaducts, 4 reinforced concrete viaducts, 6 underpass bridges, 38 overpass bridges, 5 bridges, 43 underpasses, 115 various sizes of connections, 12 junctions, 4 highway service facilities, 2 maintenance operation centers, 6 fare collection station will be built and the 1915 Çanakkale Bosphorus Bridge will be completed and opened to service on 18 March 2022.
