Turkiye: Foreign trade of $10.2 million in New Year’s decorations in 10 months

Turkiye’s foreign trade volume in decorations and entertainment items used in New Year celebrations was $10.2 million in the 10 months of this year.

According to the AA correspondent’s compilation of Turkish Statistical Institute data, the increase in the foreign trade volume of the goods in question and the ratio of exports to imports is noteworthy.

While the foreign trade volume in ornaments and entertainment items and illuminators used on Christmas trees was $5 million 569 thousand 347 in 2019, it decreased to $5 million 225 thousand 948 in 2020, when the Covid-19 epidemic was effective. This figure, which was $12 million 445 thousand 336 last year, reached $10 million 190 thousand 843 in the 10 months of 2023.

Most foreign trade regarding these products is carried out in the last two months of the year. Turkiye’s exports to decorate other countries’ Christmas trees were $558 thousand 570 in the whole of 2019, and were calculated as $2 million 441 thousand 694 in the 10-month period of this year.

Imports in this field, which were $5 million 10 thousand 777 in 2019, were recorded as $7 million 749 thousand 149 in the January-October 2023 period.

The export-import coverage ratio is 31.5%

A significant increase was observed in the ratio of exports to imports for the products in question. While this rate was 11.1% in 2019, it decreased to 9%in 2020. The rate increased to 20.9% in 2021 and 35.8% last year. The export-import coverage ratio was 31.5% in the 10 months of this year.
