Antalya has an annual agricultural product worth ₺17 billion: Antalya Governor

At the ceremony held at the governor’s office, a protocol was signed between Antalya Commodity Exchange President Ali Candir and Antalya Agriculture and Forestry Manager Gokhan Karaca, which envisions cooperation in many fields, especially in agricultural education.

Online trainings will be held

According to the protocol, various online trainings for producers and consumers operating across the country, starting from Antalya, will be organized free of charge. In addition to the trainings within the scope of the protocol, activities such as workshops, symposiums, panels and meetings will be carried out to determine the existing problems of the agricultural sector and to eliminate these problems.

Programs will be organized on social media in order to expand the market network in the study where it is aimed to promote the geographically indicated products specific to a region in 81 provinces, especially Antalya.

 Antalya Governor Ersin Yazici, in his statement after the signing ceremony, emphasized that the importance of education in agriculture has increased. Stating that the cooperation between the two institutions will bring agricultural education to a higher level, Yazici pointed out the Olive School, which reached 20 thousand people as an example, and said that they expect such studies to continue.

Yazici expressed that Antalya is a city where knowledge in agriculture is used at the highest level, he continued:

‘’ Antalya is the locomotive of Turkey’s agriculture with an annual agricultural product of ₺17 billion. Antalya is not only a tourism city, but also Turkey’s most important agricultural town in terms of wealth due to production activities.’’

Commodity Exchange Chairman Ali Candir stated that they cooperated in many areas with the Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry. Stating that they will develop and continue the training programs with the protocol, Candir stated that training activities and other organizations will be conducted online during the pandemic period.
