In Aksaray, where 80% of its population makes a living in agriculture and animal husbandry, the agricultural production value increased by ₺2 billion in 1 year despite the pandemic, while 4 million 336 thousand tons of agricultural production was made in 1 year in the city, which has 390 thousand hectares of agricultural land.
Agricultural production in Aksaray, which has an important place in Turkey in agricultural production, continues to increase rapidly every year, while the support given by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry adds to the power of the producers. In the city, which has 390 thousand hectares of agricultural land and 80% of the population makes a living from agriculture and animal husbandry, 43% of the employment is employed in the agriculture and livestock sector.
Stating that by developing various agriculture and livestock projects in the city, the producers add value to their products, Agriculture and Forestry Provincial Director Bulent Saklav said, “Our Provincial Directorate carries out projects and supports to add value to the products produced by our farmers in Aksaray, with the instructions of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and our governor. In this context, our Aksaray province ranked 19th in Turkey in terms of agricultural production in 2020, according to official TUIK figures. It became one of our provinces that increased the agricultural production value from ₺6 billion 100 million in 2019 to ₺8 billion 200 million in 2020, increasing its agricultural production value by ₺2 billion despite the pandemic. We hope to increase this even more. 80% of our Aksaray is engaged in agriculture and animal husbandry, and 43% of those employed in the working life in our Aksaray province are employed in the agriculture and livestock sector. There is 390 thousand hectares of agricultural land in Aksaray and our province, as a province that cultivates this agricultural land every year, ranked 13th in Turkey in 2020 according to TUIK figures. Again in 2020, at another important point, our Aksaray ranked 4th in Turkey in terms of grain and herbal products production. In 2020, we produced 4 million 336 thousand tons of agricultural production.”
