95 thousand 863 houses were sold throughout Turkey in April. While the number of houses sold in April decreased by 13.82% compared to March, it increased by 124.1% compared to the same month of the previous year.

The Turkish Statistical Institute announced housing sales statistics for April.

Accordingly, the number of house sales in Turkey increased by 124.1% in April compared to the same month of the previous year and became 95 863.

The number of houses sold in April decreased by 13.82% compared to March. 111 thousand 241 houses were sold in March.

Istanbul was the province with the highest share with 19.260 housing sales and 20.1%. This province was followed by Ankara with 9 thousand 126 house sales and 9.5% share, and Izmir with 5 thousand 505 house sales and 5.7% share. The provinces with the least number of house sales are Ardahan with 9 houses, Hakkari with 13 houses and Gumushane with 50 houses.

In April, mortgaged house sales increased by 2.5% compared to the same month of last year and reached 17,514. The share of mortgage sales in total house sales was 18.3%.

In mortgage sales, Istanbul ranked first with 3 thousand 769 house sales and 21.5% share. The province with the lowest mortgage sales was Hakkari with 1 house.

4 thousand 77 houses were sold to foreigners in April throughout Turkey. House sales to foreigners increased by 416.1% on an annual basis in April.

In the housing sales made to foreigners, Istanbul took the first place in April with 2 thousand 9 house sales. This province was followed by Antalya with 859 house sales, Ankara with 228 house sales, Mersin with 197 house sales and Bursa with 131 house sales.

In April, Iranian citizens bought 557 houses from Turkey. Iranian citizens were followed by Iraq with 546, Russia with 402, Afghanistan with 229 and Kazakhstan with 188 houses.

Other house sales also increased

Other house sales increased by 204.9% in Turkey in April compared to the same month of the previous year and became 78 thousand 349. In other house sales, Istanbul ranked first with 15 thousand 491 houses and a share of 19.8%.

The share of other sales in total house sales in Istanbul was 80.4%. While Ankara ranked second with 6 thousand 867 other house sales, Ankara was followed by Izmir with 4 thousand 300 house sales. The province with the least other house sales was Ardahan with 7 houses.

The number of houses sold in Turkey for the first time increased by 96.7%in April compared to the same month of the previous year and reached 29 thousand 212.

The share of the first sale in total house sales was recorded as 30.5%. In the first sales, Istanbul had the highest share with 5 thousand 232 house sales and 17.9%, followed by Ankara with 1869 house sales and Izmir with 1530 house sales.

Second hand house sales in Turkey increased by 138.6% in April compared to the same month of the previous year and became 66 651.

In second-hand house sales, Istanbul ranked first with 14 thousand 28 house sales and 21% share. The share of second hand sales in total house sales in Istanbul reached 72.8%. Ankara ranked second in this category with 7,257 house sales, followed by Izmir with 3,975 house sales.

Sales decreased on an annual basis in January-April

In the January-April period, housing sales decreased by 6.5% compared to the same period of the previous year and were recorded as 358 thousand 913.

In the same period, mortgaged house sales decreased by 55.8% to 64 thousand 730, while other sales types increased by 23.9% to 294 thousand 183.

In this period, first-hand houses sold decreased by 10.4% to 109 thousand 582, and second-hand house sales decreased by 4.7% to 249 thousand 331.
