$4.6 billion of passenger car exports from Turkiye

Turkiye exported $4 billion 590 million 207 thousand of passenger cars in the first half of the year. The countries that exported the most passenger cars were France, the United Kingdom and Spain, respectively.

According to the information compiled from the data of Uludag Automotive Industry Exporters’ Association, Turkiye sold passenger cars to 97 countries, autonomous regions and free zones in the January-June period.

In this period, the share of passenger cars in the exports of the automotive industry, which achieved $15 billion 261 million 224 thousand in foreign sales, was 30.1%.

Passenger car export amount, which was $4 billion 923 million 650 thousand in the January-June period last year, decreased by 6.7% in the same period of this year to $4 billion 590 million 207 thousand.

Exports to the UK increased to $522 million

Looking at the countries to which passenger cars are exported, it is seen that France, which is Turkiye’s second main market in the automotive sector, takes the first place. In the first half of the year, exports to this country decreased by 30% compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to $659 million 248 thousand.

The second country with the highest passenger car exports was the United Kingdom. In the January-June period of last year, $395 million 105 thousand of passenger cars were sold, and exports to the United Kingdom reached $522 million 786 thousand.

Passenger car exports to Spain, which ranks third, increased from $405 million 862 thousand to $456 million 699 thousand.

7 out of the top 10 markets are EU countries

Exports to France, the United Kingdom and Spain accounted for 35.7% of total passenger car exports in the January-June period.

In exports, Italy is the fourth with $412 million 844 thousand, Germany is the fifth with $382 million 151 thousand, Poland is the sixth with $318 million 258 thousand, Slovenia is the seventh with $207 million 664 thousand, Israel ranked eighth with $188 million 398 thousand, Egypt ninth with $155 million 889 thousand and Belgium tenth with $131 million 58 thousand.

European Union countries constituted 7 of the top 10 markets in passenger car export.

Vehicles were also sold to Algeria and Australia

The increase in the exports of passenger car manufacturers to some countries drew attention. In the same period of this year, 4 million 200 thousand vehicles were sold to Algeria, where passenger cars were not exported in the first half of last year, and $2 million 744 thousand were sold to Australia.

Sector representatives, who increased their exports to Azerbaijan-Nakhichevan by 1090% in the January-June period compared to the same period of the previous year, increased their exports to this country from $296 thousand to $3 million 524 thousand.

Exports to Argentina increased from $549 thousand to $2 million 606 thousand, exports to Lithuania increased from $104 thousand to $1 million 519 thousand and exports to the TRNC rose from $203 thousand to $1 million 498 thousand.
