8 out of 10 vehicles produced in Sakarya in the first quarter of the year were exported

53 thousand 605 of the 61 thousand 709 vehicles produced in Sakarya in the first quarter of the year, corresponding to 86.8%, were exported.

Sakarya, which ranks 7th in foreign sales after Istanbul, Kocaeli, Bursa, Izmir, Ankara and Gaziantep, achieved an export of approximately $1.4 billion in the January-March period.

In Sakarya, which continues to add strength to the economy with primarily automotive, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, machinery and parts, air conditioning industry, chemicals and products, steel, electricity and electronics sectors, the most foreign sales were realized in the field of vehicles with 88.8%.

According to the Automotive Industry Association data, 259 thousand 57 out of 382 thousand 504 vehicles produced in the first 3 months in Turkiye were exported.

Sakarya, which has a share of 20.6% in the aforementioned exports, exported 53 thousand 605 of the 61 thousand 709 vehicles produced in the first quarter of the year, which corresponds to 86.8%. In other words, the “automotive city”, which sells 8 out of every 10 vehicles produced abroad, provided a foreign currency input of $1 billion 201 million 731 thousand to the country’s economy with these sales.

Toyota maintains its leadership in production and exports

In Sakarya, which hosts manufacturers such as Toyota, Otokar and TurkTraktor, a total of 61 thousand 709 vehicles, including 47 thousand 213 cars, 376 midibuses, 244 buses, 4 pickup trucks, 247 small trucks, 13 thousand 625 tractors, were produced in the January-March period. During the said period, 686 vehicles were unloaded daily in the city.

Among the companies in the city, Toyota maintained its leadership in production and exports in the first three months of the year, Turk Traktor ranked second and Otokar third.

Toyota, which produced 47 thousand 213 passenger type Corolla, Toyota C-HR and new generation Corolla Hybrid models in this period in its factory located in Arifiye district, sold 48 thousand 168 vehicles abroad, together with the previous ones.

Otokar, one of the leading companies in Turkiye’s defense industry, produced 871 vehicles in this period, including buses, midibuses, pickup trucks and small trucks.

Having exported 187 vehicles in the January-March period last year, Otokar sold 379 vehicles abroad with an increase of 102.6% this year.

TurkTraktor contributed to the country’s economy by exporting 5,058 of the 13,625 tractors it produced in the same period.
