178% increase in Antalya’s tourism in January

The number of tourists coming to Antalya in January of this year increased by 178% compared to the same period of the previous year and became 138 thousand 604. Before the pandemic, 140 thousand tourists came to the city in January 2019 and 185 thousand tourists in January 2020.

The Culture and Tourism Provincial Directorate announced the January 2022 data of Antalya, the city that hosts the most foreign tourists in Turkey. Standing out against its competitors in the world with the ‘Safe Tourism Certificate’ implemented by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism during the pandemic process, the number of foreign visitors in January 2022 was 138,604. There was an increase of 178% compared to January of last year, when 49 thousand 841 tourists came.

CATCHED 2019, CLOSE TO 2020

Antalya, which hosted 140 thousand 856 visitors in January of 2019, the best year in tourism, very close to the number of 2019 in January, but the January of 2020, which coincided with the pre-pandemic period, was recorded as the best January of all time with 185 thousand 485 tourists. January 2022 fell behind by 25% compared to the same period of 2020, and 1.6% behind 2019.

RUSSIANS RANKED FIRST AGAIN

In the ranking of the countries that visited Antalya the most in January, the Russians are in the first place with 43 thousand 219 tourists and a share of 36.68%. The Germans come second with 22 thousand 38 tourists. The third was the British with 5 thousand 987 tourists, the fourth was the Poles with 4 thousand 732 tourists, the fifth was the Kazakhs with 4 thousand 570 tourists. The preference for Antalya increased with the removal of the travel ban for British visitors, whose number was 123 in January last year due to the travel restriction.
