122 thousand 768 houses were sold in Turkiye in May

In Turkiye, 122 thousand 768 houses were sold in May. While the number of houses sold in May decreased by 7.73% compared to the previous month, it increased by 107.5% on an annual basis.

Housing sales across Turkiye increased by 107.5% in May compared to the same month of the previous year and became 122 thousand 768. Istanbul had the highest share in house sales with 22 thousand 148 houses and 18.0%.

According to the number of sales, Istanbul was followed by Ankara with 11 thousand 497 house sales and 9.4% share, and Izmir with 7 thousand 159 sales and 5.8% share. The provinces with the lowest number of house sales were Hakkari with 21 houses, Ardahan with 43 houses and Bayburt with 75 houses, respectively.

Housing sales increased by 37.7% in the January-May period

Housing sales in the January-May period increased by 37.7% compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 575 thousand 889.

Mortgage housing sales amounted to 29 thousand 335

Mortgaged house sales across Turkiye increased by 177.8% in May compared to the same month of the previous year and became 29 thousand 335. The share of mortgaged sales in total house sales was 23.9%. Mortgaged house sales in the January-May period, on the other hand, increased by 72.3% compared to the same period of the previous year and became 129 thousand 707.

6 thousand 161 of the mortgage sales in May; 31,885 of the mortgaged sales in the January-May period were first-hand sales.

As a result of other sales types, 93 thousand 433 houses changed hands.

Other house sales in Turkiye increased by 92.2% in May compared to the same month of the previous year and became 93 thousand 433. The share of other sales in total house sales was 76.1%.

Other house sales realized in the January-May period, on the other hand, increased by 30.2% compared to the same period of the previous year and became 446 thousand 182.

The number of first-hand housing sales was 32 thousand 861

The number of first-hand house sales in Turkiye increased by 80.5% in May compared to the same month of the previous year and became 32 thousand 861.

The share of first-hand house sales in total house sales was 26.8%. In the January-May period, the first-hand house sales increased by 28.1%compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 163 thousand 719.

89 thousand 907 houses changed hands in second-hand house sales

Second-hand house sales in Turkiye increased by 119.5% in May compared to the same month of the previous year and became 89 thousand 907. The share of second-hand housing sales in total housing sales was 73.2%.

In the January-May period, second-hand house sales increased by 42.0% compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 412 thousand 170.

5 thousand 962 houses were sold to foreigners in May

Housing sales to foreigners increased by 235.7% in May compared to the same month of the previous year and became 5 thousand 962. In May, the share of house sales to foreigners in total house sales was 4.9%.

Istanbul took the first place in house sales to foreigners with the sale of 2 thousand 451 houses. Antalya was followed by Antalya with 1,885 house sales and Mersin with 264 house sales, respectively.

In the January-May period, house sales to foreigners increased by 70.0% compared to the same period of the previous year and became 26 thousand 753.

According to the nationality of the country, the most house sales were made to the citizens of the Russian Federation.

In May, citizens of the Russian Federation bought 1,275 houses from Turkiye.

Citizens of the Russian Federation were followed by Iran with 736 residences and Iraqi citizens with 617 residences, respectively.
