112 thousand 483 housing sales are made in November: TUIK

Turkey Statistical Institute has announced its residential sales statistics for the month of November. Accordingly, the number of houses sold throughout the country in November decreased by 5.93 percent compared to October and 18.7 percent compared to October 2019. The number of houses sold in November was 112 thousand 483.

In housing sales, Istanbul ranked first with 21 thousand 158 houses (18.8 percent). Istanbul was followed by Ankara with 10 thousand 710 house sales (9.5 percent) and Izmir with 6 thousand 574 sales (5.8 percent). The provinces with the least housing sales were recorded as Ardahan with 15 houses, Hakkari with 23 houses and Bayburt with 78 houses.

Mortgage sales

Mortgage sales decreased by 44.3 percent in November compared to November 2019 and decreased to 24 thousand 450. The share of mortgage sales in total house sales was determined as 21.7 percent. In mortgage sales, Istanbul ranked first with 5 thousand 4 houses and a 20.5 percent share. The province with the lowest mortgage sales share in total house sales was Hakkari with 1 house.

Other house sales decreased by 6.8 percent on an annual basis in November and were recorded as 88 thousand 330 units. In this category, Istanbul ranked first with 16 thousand 154 house sales and 18.3 percent share.

The share of other sales in total house sales in Istanbul was calculated as 76.3 percent. Ankara ranked second with 7 thousand 975 other house sales, followed by Izmir with 4 thousand 898 house sales. The province with the least other housing sales was Ardahan with 9 houses.

36 thousand 658 new houses are sold in November

The number of houses sold for the first time decreased by 25 percent in November compared to the same month of the previous year and decreased to 36 thousand 658. The share of the first sale in total house sales was recorded as 32.6 percent.

In the first sales, Istanbul took the highest share (16.9 percent) with 6 thousand 177 houses. This city was followed by Ankara with 2 thousand 662 house sales and Izmir with 1888 sales.

Second-hand house sales decreased by 15.2 percent in November compared to the same period of the previous year and to 72 thousand 825. Istanbul ranked first in this area with 14 thousand 981 second-hand housing sales and 19.8 percent share. The share of second-hand sales in total house sales in Istanbul was calculated as 70.8 percent. Istanbul was followed by Ankara with 8 thousand 48 house sales and Izmir with 4 thousand 686 sales.

Housing sales to foreigners increased

The number of house sales to foreigners increased by 24.4 percent in November compared to the same month of the previous year and reached 4 thousand 962. In this area, Istanbul was the first with 2 thousand 443 houses, followed by Antalya with 893 sales, Ankara with 297 sales, Yalova with 182 sales. Iraqis bought 876 houses from Turkey. This country was followed by Iranian citizens with 860 houses. Citizens of the Russian Federation purchased 434 houses, Afghan citizens 203 and Kuwaiti citizens 202 houses.

Housing sales increased by 21.5 percent in the January-November period

In the January-November period, housing sales increased by 21.5 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 1 million 393 thousand 335. In this period, mortgaged housing sales increased by 98 percent and became 558 thousand 706. Other types of sales were recorded as 834 thousand 629 with a decrease of 3.4 percent.

In this period, houses sold for the first time decreased by 0.8 percent to 432 thousand 842. Second-hand house sales also increased by 35.2 percent to 960 thousand 493.
