$1.44 billion export was made from Trakya in 6 months of the year

Despite the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19) epidemic, exports of $1.44 billion were realized from Tekirdag, Kirklareli and Edirne in the January-June period of this year.

Trakya Development Agency General Secretary Mahmut Sahin told Anadolu Agency (AA) that the increase in exports is pleasing.

Explaining that Trakya’s exports in the first 6 months increased by 44% compared to the same period of the previous year, Sahin said, “The economy is rapidly getting rid of the negative effects of the epidemic process. Trakya’s exports for the first 6 months of this year were $1.44 billion. The economy, which was overshadowed by the epidemic last year, is recovering rapidly and export figures are increasing. Tekirdag became the province with the highest export among the provinces in the region, with an export of $1 billion 280 million.”

TEKIRDAG’S EXPORTS INCREASED BY $406 MILLION COMPARED TO THE LAST YEAR

Stating that Tekirdag has an important export potential, Sahin continued as follows:

“Comparing the first 6 months of last year with the data for 2021, Tekirdag’s exports increased by approximately $406 million compared to the same period of the previous year. In the same period, Kirklareli’s exports increased by $22.5 million compared to the previous year. Edirne realized an export of $40.5 million in the first six months of this year, an increase of $9.28 million in its exports compared to the January-June period of the previous year.”

Şahin stated that the most chemicals, electrical and electronic products are exported from Tekirdag. “While Kirklareli mostly exports cereals, pulses, oilseeds and textile products, in Edirne cereals, pulses, oilseeds, forest products and cement were among the most exported products.”
