₺10 million support from Turk Telekom to startups

9th term graduates of Turk Telekom Pilot, Turkey’s first startup acceleration program, took the stage. 18 startup projects from artificial intelligence to cloud computing, from agriculture to e-commerce, from digital advertising to micro-mobility were presented at Turk Telekom Pilot Demo Day, which was held online. A total of 91 startups have graduated from PILOT since 2013, and 39 received investments. Three teams of graduates were entitled to participate in the 4-week US program of Plug and Play, one of the world’s largest innovation platforms. While startups had the chance to explain their projects to the entrepreneurial ecosystem, Turk Telekom CEO Umit Onal told the following in his speech: “While the number of our graduates has reached 91, the cash support we provide to startups has increased to approximately ₺10 million on this path that we set out with the aim of making Turkey not only a consuming country but also a technology producer and even exporting it to the world. While aiming to create new ‘unicorns’ with our investments in health, energy and education, we have recently invested in 4 new startups operating in the field of artificial intelligence and telecommunication, namely Syntonym, Optiyol, QuantWifi and B2Metric. Arcanor, Cameralyze and MYTH.AI, among the 18 startups that graduated this year, will have the chance to participate in the program of PladandPlay, the famous innovation platform of Silicon Valley, with which we cooperate internationally.”

SHOULD NOT SAY “I” IN EVERY WORK

After making their presentations, Fiba Group Founder and Honorary President Husnu Ozyegin answered the questions of Turk Telekom Business Development and New Ventures Director Muhammed Ozhan. Husnu Ozyegin said, “It is not right to say that I do everything, I can do everything successfully. We have invested in new financial technology startups through Finberg, and in recent stellar startups such as Getir. We have invested in 14 startups. At the same time, we have enabled them to use Fibabanka as a platform.”
